Harwich Cruise Terminal from Legend of the Seas

The present million pound Cruise Terminal was officially opened in 1996 signalling Harwich International Port's commitment to the cruise sector.   It has seen huge growth in calls since coming into operation and now regularly services North Cape, Scandanavian, Baltic, round Britain and Mediterranean itineraries.

Excellent facilities are provided to ensure that all passengers receive a seamless journey to and from the vessel with the introduction of a bespoke passenger boarding bridge in 2009.  This new state of the art structure provides a modern and improved passenger access between the cruise terminal and cruise ships of all sizes.  The passenger walkway allows embarkation and disembarkation in an air conditioned, safe and secure manner, unaffected by adverse English summer weather or tidal ranges.  It is capable of operating from quay level up to an elevation of 10 meters and has a range along with quay of 25 meters.

Alongside the introduction of the boarding bridge, the Port has substantially increased the security screening area and installed an additional baggage scanner and security archway to cater for larger ships.

Adjacent to the terminal building is the coach park with a capacity for 60 coaches and secure parking for up to 400 vehicles - areas regularly serviced by a shuttle bus, baggage handling and porterage services.

There are 20 check in positions manned by experienced, warm, friendly staff to help whenever needed.    A comfortable lounge is available seating 300 with access to toilets, a cafe serving high quality refreshments, newsagents and exchange bureau.
